Packing for the Perfect
Honeymoon:
the wedding is over and it’s time for some quality time with your husband. Honeymoon, here you
come! As soon as you’ve packed, that is. Before you jump in a car, on a boat, or into a plane, we have
some tips for you from travel expert Deidre Logan of Easy Club Travel on how to pack for a perfect trip:
1.Start packing for your honeymoon after your bridal
shower, if not sooner. You’ll have a better idea of
what can wait and what you just can’t live without.
2.MINIMIZE, MINIMIZE, MINIMIZE. Between the
extra charges and the security concerns, it pays to
pack as little as possible.
3.Do pack things that may be unreasonably expensive
to buy on location, and ship them to your destination ahead of you. You can also include things you
know can live without until you get there. FedEx and
UPS have much better on-time delivery records than
most airlines, so take advantage whenever possible.
4.Wear costume jewelry instead of your wedding
bands and engagement ring. With the crime situation escalating everywhere, there’s no need to unnecessarily put your precious gems in danger. Even though
you have them insured, if they’re stolen or lost, you no
longer have the rings you made your covenant with. If
you’re really in love with the look of your rings, have
them remade in sterling silver with synthetic stones.
There are jewelers who specialize in this and create
very convincing copies for just such occasions. Then
you can have all the bling and none of the worry.
5.Ma ke sure you bring what you need to be healthy,
comfortable, and safe. Bring extra prescription
medicines, contacts/glasses, over-the-counter reme-dies, extra batteries for your cameras. Pack some in
your carry on and more in your ship ahead packages.
Copy all your credit cards/traveler’s cheques, tickets,
and passports. Pack one to ship ahead, leave one with a
close relative or trusted friend, leave one more with a
trusted co-worker or supervisor. In case of an emergency, you want to be as easy as possible to locate.
Packing light can be a challenge for the best of us,
but heavier bags carry extra charges on airlines
and are more of a security risk. If you can, send
things ahead to your destination via UPS or FedEx.
6.Fi nally, pack a flexible attitude and a heart of gratitude. Your new life is off to a magnificent start.
Savor each moment. They are indeed special.
